Gary Corcoran
Executive Producer and Co-Founder of Cartiology
Gary Corcoran has been an automotive enthusiast his entire life and enjoys all types of interesting vehicles that look beautiful, sound like music, and go fast. With over 30 years of technical and business experience, Gary is the Executive Producer and Co-Founder of Cartiology Films along with his long-time friend and filmmaker, Alec Cartio. Gary and Alec are now sharing their passion for the automobile by showcasing cars and their caretaker’s wonderful stories using the art of film and sound.
Born and raised in southern California, Gary started working on friend’s and neighbor’s cars before he was old enough to drive (legally). He remembers the frustration that his 16th birthday was on a Sunday and he had to wait one more day to get his driver’s license. During high school, he built a wild 1967 4-Speed Fastback Mustang while working part-time as a machinist making parts for racing go-karts at Hartman Engineering. During college, he worked summers as an auto mechanic until he graduated with a business and computer degree from Cal State Fullerton.
In his first job beginning as a programmer, he quickly rose into management positions and used his car allowance to purchase a 1972 De Tomaso Pantera which he still enjoys today. Gary’s career in the software and other tech-related businesses include VP positions at American Data, V-Systems, Epicor, and Director of Professional Services with Microsoft. Raising his family of two sons and a daughter in south Orange County, CA., Gary shared his passion for baseball by coaching Little League for 12 years. “It was some of the most rewarding times of my life – teaching life lessons through the game of baseball”, said Gary of his coaching experiences. “Baseball is life… all the rest is details”.
For the past 10 years as an investor and independent business development consultant, Gary has helped a variety of companies grow and become more successful while becoming increasingly involved in car culture as a founder and board member of SoCal Eights, a car club for BMW 8-Series’owners. Naturally, there’s common bond among owners of a certain marque, but true enthusiasts appreciate a wide variety of cars not just for their pedigree, but for the passion their owners display and the stories they tell. “It’s this common bond that brought Alec and me together to form Cartiology Films to share our passion for cars and filmmaking with the rest of the world. We hope you enjoy our films as much as we enjoy creating them”.
